Yo-yo
The ever lasting yoyo became a playground favourite once again when I was in school after undergoing a makeover. New plastic yoyo’s with fancy ball bearings meant that kids could spend hours mastering the popular techniques of walking the dog and rocking the cradle!
Tamagotchi
Tamagotchi translating to “Loveable egg” was another toy epidemic that hit schools with every kid having to have one of these “loveable eggs” in their pockets! Although this was not one of my personal favourites, (the idea of having an egg shaped robot that you had to feed never really appealed!), it has to be up there as one of the top toys of my time because of the sheer impact it had.
Play Doh
What a great invention! Kids have for years and still do love playing with this stretchy doh as they can turn it into anything that their imagination thinks up! Don’t forget to keep it in its tub though as hard crusty play doh is not so much fun!
Power Rangers
The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were possibly the most popular people on TV when I was a kid. Easy to understand really, what is there not to like about 5 teenagers chosen to protect the world from an evil sorceress? The TV shows usually consisted of the Rangers easily seeing off some lightweight grey putty men before having to fight a more challenging baddy by morphing there vehicles together to create an all concurring Megazord! With their snazzy outfits and cool vehicles they made for great toys where kids could copy the actions of their suited up heroes!
Cap Guns
Not so popular with parents, these great toys allow kids to pretend to be cowboys and make as much noise as possible but without actually firing anything. Usually quite cheap cap guns are a classic toy that have been around forever and will hopefully continue to annoy parents for years with their loud bang!
Which of these was your favourite toy?

Adam, have you tried eBay? I found one of my favorite childhood toys from the 60s on eBay and gave it to my cousin for a Christmas gift.
Great hub, rambo87! Thanks for answering my hub request!

My favorite toy I had ever recieved is a tragic tale. For Christmas when I was younger...probaby 4 or 5 years old, my mom bought me a spinning spaceship thing. I would sit on this toy, hold on some joystick and the toy would make shooting sound effects and spin me around. I love that toy so much just in the few hours I started playing with it.
Later on that day we were going to my grnadmothers house for dinner and I asked if I could bring it along. My mom said I could bring it and started loading things into the car.
Soon, she grabbed my new wonderful toy and headed downstairs with it...next thing I hear is a crashing and banging down the steps. Mom had dropped the greatest toy in the world down the stairs destroying everything that was great about it. The toy was in a hundred pieces at the bottom of the steps. I was crying and carrying on when my mom told me she was sorry and she would get me a new one.
I never got a new one...sob sob sniffle sniffle.
